Two daycare teacher assistants have been arrested after authorities said an investigation uncovered the alleged physical abuse of two juveniles at a Hackensack daycare center.

According to information released by Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, Deily E. Perez of the Bronx and Chillyann V. Spencer of Paterson were each charged with two counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child.
Authorities said the investigation began Friday, September 11, after the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding allegations involving two juveniles at the daycare facility.
Investigators with the Prosecutor’s Office and Hackensack Police Department determined that Perez and Spencer, who worked as teacher assistants at the center, allegedly physically abused the two juveniles on Wednesday, September 9.
Both women were arrested in Hackensack on Wednesday, September 16, and were initially remanded to the Bergen County Jail.
Perez and Spencer later appeared in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack and were ordered released Friday, September 18, pending further court proceedings.
