A bomb scare prompted the evacuation of a nursing home in Orange Monday afternoon as authorities responded to investigate.

The incident occurred at Saint Mary’s Nursing Home, located at 135 South Center Street, where the entire building was evacuated as a precaution.
The Essex County Bomb Squad responded to the scene and conducted a search of the facility. Authorities ultimately cleared the building after no explosive devices were found.
During the emergency response, neighboring fire departments provided mutual aid to ensure continued coverage in Orange.
A Bloomfield fire engine provided station coverage, while a West Orange engine and South Essex truck were placed on standby.
No injuries were reported, and the nursing home was cleared following the investigation.
