A Newark man has been sentenced to five years in state prison after admitting to distributing narcotics in Atlantic City, according to information released by authorities.

Officials said Waheed Wilkins, 35, was sentenced on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, after pleading guilty to second-degree possession with intent to distribute narcotics.
According to investigators, the case stems from an incident on December 9, 2024, when officers with the Atlantic City Police Department observed Wilkins engaging in multiple hand-to-hand drug transactions in the area of Bellevue and Atlantic avenues in Atlantic City.
Police detained Wilkins and discovered he was in possession of three digital scales, 65 capsules, various pills, 156 wax folds, and nearly two ounces of cocaine.
Authorities said the evidence recovered was consistent with narcotics distribution activity.

Wilkins was subsequently charged and later entered a guilty plea, resulting in the five-year New Jersey State Prison sentence.
