Authorities are investigating a late-night shooting incident near a park in Linden that prompted a multi-agency response.
According to preliminary information, officers were dispatched around 10:30 p.m. after reports of multiple gunshots in the area of Morningside Avenue and Summit Terrace near Wilson Park.
Responding officers located evidence confirming that gunfire had occurred and secured the scene.
The Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit was called in to assist the Linden Police Department with the investigation.
Officials said a vehicle in the area was struck by gunfire, but no occupants were inside at the time.
No injuries have been reported.
The suspect fled the scene and remains at large. A motive for the shooting has not been determined, and the investigation remains active and ongoing.
