Authorities in Linden are investigating a serious crash that left a pedestrian critically injured early Saturday morning on a busy stretch of roadway.
Emergency responders rushed to the northbound lanes of Route 1&9 near Woodlawn Avenue just before 1 a.m. after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting a person down in the roadway.
When police and rescue crews arrived, they located a victim who had been struck by a vehicle.
The individual was transported to University Hospital in Newark suffering serious injuries.
Officials requested an accident investigation team to respond to the scene to assist with determining the circumstances surrounding the crash.
No additional information, including the identity of the victim or details about the vehicle involved, was immediately available.
Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing. More information will be released as it becomes available from the Linden Police Department.
