Bloomfield authorities say officers arrested a Newark teenager on Christmas Day after a resident reported a vehicle burglary in the area of Watsessing Avenue.

According to information released by Bloomfield Police, officers responded to the neighborhood after a homeowner noticed an unknown individual inside his vehicle.

Responding officers quickly arrived and located the suspect a short distance away.

The individual — identified as 19-year-old Tavin McCullough of Newark — was taken into custody without incident and transported to Bloomfield Police Headquarters for processing.

Police said the investigation remains active, and detectives are also working to determine whether McCullough may be connected to additional vehicle burglaries in Bloomfield and elsewhere in Essex County.
