5-Year-Old Girl Injured in Perth Amboy Shooting

Authorities are investigating a shooting that left a 5-year-old girl injured late Monday night in Perth Amboy, officials said.

According to a joint announcement by Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Perth Amboy Police Chief Lawrence Cattano, officers responded to a residence on Cortlandt Street at approximately 11:06 p.m. on July 7, 2025, following a report of shots fired inside the home.

Upon arrival, responding officers discovered a young child suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and is currently listed in stable condition.

Investigators said there is no ongoing threat to the surrounding community at this time.

Authorities are continuing to gather details about the incident and are urging anyone with information or home surveillance footage from the area to come forward.
