A Newark man has been arrested in connection with a drive-by shooting that occurred in Hackensack last year, following an extensive multi-agency investigation, according to information released by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.

Prosecutor Mark Musella announced that 35-year-old Tahjee H. Goodwin was taken into custody in Newark on Friday, June 27, 2025, by detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Squad, with support from the New Jersey State Parole Board.
The arrest marks the latest development in a year-long investigation into a shooting that took place on Newman Street in Hackensack around 6:10 p.m. on June 24, 2024.
Authorities said two vehicles drove by a crowd gathered on the street and opened fire, striking a parked car. No injuries were reported.
Investigators later identified five suspects linked to the shooting. Earlier this year, detectives arrested Quayyan R. Horton, Charles E. Kirkland, and Nafee A. Horton at separate residences in Newark and Jersey City on February 14.
A fourth suspect, Hakeem J. Jones, was already in custody on unrelated charges in Essex County and was served with additional charges on February 19.
Detectives continued working the case and ultimately identified Goodwin as the fifth suspect.
He now faces multiple charges, including first-degree attempted murder, first- and second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

All individuals charged remain in custody pending further court proceedings.
The joint investigation was led by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under Chief Matthew Finck and the Hackensack Police Department under Chief Michael Antista.
