Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Orange Police Director Hakim Sims announced today that the Orange Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force are investigating a fatal shooting of 41-year-old Jacques E. Josephceus of Orange.
Authorities said, at approximately 4:50 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, Orange Police responded to a report of shots fired in the vicinity of 300 block of Alden Street, near Cleveland Street. When they arrived on the scene they discovered Josephceus on the ground suffering from what appeared to be multiple gun shot wounds.
Josephceus was transported to University Hospital in Newark, where he died this morning at 4:10 a.m.
No arrests have been made and at this time the motive has not been determined. The investigation is active and ongoing.
This is the second shooting in Orange in about two weeks.
