Police in Bloomfield set up a crime scene in a section of the city as offices searched the area for evidence for a reported shooting that occurred early Sunday morning.
According to a preliminary investigation, residents dialed 911 after hearing several loud popping noises near the Ihop on Bloomfield Avenue around 4 a.m.
Two police vehicles arrived and taped off several blocks on the avenue as police began investigating the shots fired report.
Bloomfield officials have not released information on the incident at this time.
A glass door to a business was shattered and believed struck by bullets.
Residents in the area said there had been suspicious activities in that section of Blomfield Avenue in the last two weeks, with a crime scene set up near the gas station several blocks away.
This morning's incident is under investigation.
