Woman Struck by Car on NJ Turnpike in Linden

NJ State Police officials are investigating a crash that injured a pedestrian on a highway in Union County Friday night.

According to information released by NJ State Police officials, the crash occurred at 10:57 p.m. on the New Jersey Turnpike, Northbound inner roadway at mile marker 96.6 in Linden.

Officials say there was an initial crash involving a Jeep and a Volkswagen that occurred in the left lane. After the driver of the Volkswagen exited her vehicle, a Nissan, passing in the area, crashed into the Volkswagen, which then struck the driver who was standing in the roadway.

According to police, the victim sustained severe injuries and was transported to an area hospital.

Doctors listed the unidentified woman in stable condition, according to State Police officials.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
