A Week of RESPECT Celebrated in Linden Public Schools

Linden

Linden Public Schools celebrated “The Week of Respect” that occurred from Oct. 2nd to 6th with programs and curriculum focused on teaching students to treat each other with kindness and caring and to avoid bullying, as well as how to react if they are bullied.

Throughout New Jersey, school districts are directed to use the first week in October to reinforce the importance of fostering a positive school climate, social and emotional learning, and character education.

According to district offcials, Linden Public Schools offered age-appropriate anti-bullying programs and practices throughout the district.

The districtwide observance was highlighted with class lessons and social activities centered around respect and bullying prevention throughout all the schools.

Linden High School students engaged in a competitive anti-bullying door-decorating contest along with various classroom lessons.

Offcials said Middle school students “teamed up” against bullying by wearing their favorite sports jersey.

Linden’s eight elementary schools received character-education lessons from the school-based social worker along with various creative activities throughout the district offcials said.

“The Linden Public Schools pride themselves in our clear and consistent message not only during the Week of Respect, but throughout the school year about maintaining a positive and safe learning environment for our students,” said Annabell Louis, supervisor of student services.
