Linden Police officials are investigating the motive behind a shooting that resulted in property damage Saturday night.

Residents in the area of 700 Cleveland Avenue notified police after they heard about eight rounds of gunfire in the neighborhood before 9:50 p.m.

When officers arrived at the scene, they taped off the area after they found multiple shell casings and multiple cars struck by bullets.

Police say no one was inside the cars during the shooting.

Authorities believe several suspects engaged in a shoot-out before fleeing and entering cars that sped from the scene.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
