Vehicle Flees the Scene After Striking 4-Year-Old in Madison

The Madison Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance with identifying a vehicle involved in a hit and run motor vehicle crash with a child pedestrian.

Madison police received calls of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle on Main Street, in front of the Burger King yesterday (Nov. 19) at approximately 5:25 p.m.

Responding officers found the 4-year-old boy lying on the west bound side of the road in front of the Rosewood Condominiums located at 318 Main Street.

According to initial investigations, the boy and two others were attempting to cross the street, when the child was struck.

Following the crash, the vehicle fled the scene and continued west on Main Street towards the center of Madison.

According to witnesses, the suspected vehicle - a white 2013-2014 Subaru Outback - was seen traveling on the shoulder of the roadway for approximately one mile before striking the victim.

The boy was rushed to Morristown Medical Center, where he is listed in critical but stable condition.
