UPDATE: Suspect Sought for Allegedly Shooting 49-Year-Old Man Inside Linden Residence

Police in Linden filed charges against a man in connection with a shooting on Friday night.

According to Linden Police officials, the incident happened at approximately 8:15 p.m. where police responded to Cedar Avenue on reports of a shooting inside a residence.

Police say the victim, a 49-year-old man, was transported to Newark University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect has been identified as 26-year-old Derrick Merisma according to police.

He has been charged with 1st degree attempted murder, 2nd degree aggravated assault and other related weapons charges.

The incident remains under investigation by the Linden Police Detective Bureau.
