UPDATE: Roselle Park Woman Critical After Being Hit by Car

A 61-year-old Roselle Park woman remains in critical condition after she was struck by a vehicle Thursday evening.

According to police, last night at approximately ‪7:23p.m.‬, Roselle Park Police responded to the 300 block of E.Westfield Avenue on a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian who was stated to be unconscious  in the middle of the highway.

Investigation revealed that a 2001 Ford Explorer operated by a 57-year-old Freehold Borough resident was traveling eastbound in the outside lane of E. Westfield Ave when he struck and injured a 61-year-old Roselle Park resident who was standing in the roadway.

The pedestrian was unconscious upon police arrival and was transported to University Hospital in Newark by Union County E.M.S. , where she was reported to be in critical but stable condition.  

The crash is currently under investigation led by the Roselle Park Police Detective Bureau and Traffic Unit.

Traffic in both directions was shut down for approximately 3 hours during the investigation, according to police.
