Update: Elderly Couple, Son Identified in Fair Lawn Murder-Suicide

Authorities have identified the 53-year-old man who they say killed his parents, set their Fair Lawn home on fire and ultimately killed himself.

Firefighters responded to 13-24 4th Street home around 11:30 p.m. for a report of house fire.

According to authorities, by approximately 12:35 a.m. firefighters deemed the blaze under control then setup a crime scene at that location after three dead bodies suffering from gunshot wounds.

Inside the home, officials recovered a handgun and the bodies of 78-year-old Richard Temple, his wife Barbara Ann Tempe, 73, and their son, Richard Jr.

Autopsies have determined that Tempe Jr.’s cause of death was suicide and his parents’ cause of death was homicide.

The incident remains under investigation, according to authorities.

A firefighter who was injuried in the blaze was treated and released from the hospital.
