Linden – A woman has died following a hit-and-run crash early this afternoon.
According to authorities, at approximately 12:55 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of E. St. George Ave and Washington Ave on reports of an auto-pedestrian motor vehicle crash.
Authorities said investigators believe that the woman was walking north across East St. George Ave (from the Linden side to the Roselle side) when she was struck by a vehicle traveling east (toward Elizabeth) on East St. George Ave.
The vehicle then fled the scene, headed east on East St. George Ave toward Elizabeth.
The woman, whose name is not being released, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Parts of East St George Ave were closed for several hours following the crash, but have since been reopened.
