The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office will handle the investigation into a shooting incident that injured a male in Prospect Park Sunday morning.
Police say at around 12:40 a.m., officers responded to reports of shots fired that rang out near the intersection of Hopper and Alpine streets.
When officers arrived, they found evidence that a shooting occurred, but no victims were located at the shooting scene.
Police say that officials at St. Joseph's Medical Center contacted police shortly into the investigation when a 24-year-old gunshot entered the emergency department.
The victim's injuries were not reported as life-threatening at this time.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
