UPDATE: 15-Year-Old Boy Injured in Orange Shootout

A wild shootout that erupted on an Orange street sent a 15-year-old boy to the hospital on Friday evening.

According to reports, a portion of the incident occurred at around 3:45 p.m. while the teen boy and an unidentified male walked on South Center Street near Ivory Court when a man exited a vehicle and approached the pair.

According to reports, the man brandished a gun and began to fire shots in the direction of the pair when the male -who was walking with the teen-allegedly produced his own firearm and began to engage in a gun battle with the suspect, causing him to run back to a waiting vehicle.

Police rushed to the scene where they reportedly located the teen suffering a non-life threatening gunshot wound in the area of South Center and Chapman streets, but the male who was with him fled from the scene.

While officers were trying to assist the teen with his injury, they found him in possession of a loaded weapon reports said. Police placed the teen under arrest.

EMS transported the teen to University Hospital where he is expected to be ok.

The suspect, who fled the scene in the car, suffered a gunshot wound to the leg according to reports.

Police said the incident originated at 184 Hickory Street where they found more than a dozen shell casings and a door to a house struck by bullets.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
