Union Tax Office Extends Hours for Pre-Payment of 2018 Taxes

Union Township (Union)

The Township of Union’s Tax Office will be open Saturday to accommodate tax payers who wish to pre-pay their 2018 property taxes.

The modification to their normal operating hours this week comes in response to the increase in early tax payments across the nation as a result of the new tax reforms signed into law last week by President Donald Trump.

Under the new State and Local Tax (S.A.L.T.) deductions, taxpayers who itemize will be able to deduct their state individual income, sales and property taxes up to a limit of $10,000 in total starting in 2018. A stark change to current tax regulations under which itemized deductions are unlimited.

“We recognize that residents are scrambling trying to maximize their deductions for the current year after the realization of what is to come moving forward,” said Suzette Cavadas, Mayor of the Township of Union, “as a result we’re extending the hours of our tax office to accommodate those people who wish to pre-pay their 2018 taxes partially or in full.”

The Township of Union Tax Office, located at Town Hall at ‪1976 Morris Avenue, will be open on Saturday, Dec. 30th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.‬

Tax payments can be made in person or online at ‪UnionTownship.com‬.
