UNION POLICE UPDATE: On Saturday, November 21st, at about 7:22 PM Police headquarters received a 9-1-1 call from The RTSP range, at 2348 Rt. 22 east. An employee reported that a man had shot himself at the firing range. Sergeant Dan Hanselmann & Officer Thyago Morais were the first to arrive and performed first aid. Additional medical personnel responded to the scene and assisted with first aid on the man, who was transported to University Hospital and is in critical condition. The victim fired a few shots downrange and then put the gun to his head and fired the weapon. The initial conclusion is that it was a suicide attempt and not an accident or horseplay, but the Detectives are investigating this shooting to gather more facts. This incident is being investigated by Detectives Michael Theissen & Les Gaschler. There is no danger to anyone else and no one else at the range was injured.
