An active and ongoing investigation is underway into a shooting incident that injured a person at a bar in downtown Newark on Saturday.
The early morning shooting happened before 1:15 a.m. in the vicinity of 218 Mulberry Street, The Three Levels Lounge.
When officers arrived, they found the unidentified victim suffering a bullet wound. Police say the victim was transported to University Hospital for treatment and is in stable condition.
Police taped off the area around the bar they investigated and searched for evidence.
Newark officials have not said if the shooting was initiated from the bar at this time.
Saturday morning shooting would mark the second reported shooting incident that has stem from the area immediately surrounding the bar since 2019.
In the September 2019 incident, police found a 29-year-old man from East Orange, shot dead outside the Three Levels club.
Since no homicide has been reported in Saturday morning's shooting, the incident will be handled by the Newark Police Department.
