Newark -- Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose announced today that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, is investigating the fatal shooting of **Mr. Jamal Williams, 29, of East Orange**.
Police say on Sunday, Sept. 22, Williams was shot in the 200 block of Mulberry Street at approximately 10:45 p.m. He was transported to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 11:07 pm.
The investigation is active and ongoing. No arrests have been made.
