**UPDATE 6:55am:** This is a confirmed homicide investigation with a male shot dead and homes struck by bullets.
Police in Linden are on the search for a suspect wanted for a shooting that severely injured a person at a locaton in Linden Thursday night.
According to a preliminary investigation, police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the 400 block of Bower Street at approximately 11:10 p.m.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found the gravely injured victim suffering bullet wounds.
Police say the victim was transported to the hospital were doctors provided treatment, but officials have not officially confirmed a fatality as of 3:30 a.m.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation, and no arrests have been made.
