Severe Injuries Reported for 29-Year-Old Woman Struck by Vehicle in Linden

Police are investigating a pedestrian strike that injured a woman in Linden Wednesday night.

Officials say just before 10 pm, officers responded to the area of East Elizabeth Avenue and McCandless Street on reports of a serious auto-pedestrian crash.

According to police preliminary reports indicated that a 2008 Ford Escape was traveling east on E. Elizabeth Ave when it struck a 29-year-old woman as she crossed East Elizabeth Avenue.

The victim was treated on scene and transported to Newark University Hospital with serious injuries according to police.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured in the crash, remained on scene, and is cooperating with Investigators.

The crash remains under investigation by the Linden Police Traffic Bureau, and anyone with information is asked to contact Inv. Pete Hammer at (908) 474-8505.
