Police Arrest Linden Residents Accused of Shooting Man in Rahway

Police quickly apprehended two Linden men accused of shooting and injuring a 19-year-old man in Rahway.

According to authorities, on May 22nd, Rahway Police Officers arrested Abdulaziz Muhammad, 19, and Traivon Hodge, 18, both Linden residents, after an investigation revealed their involvement in a shooting.

Officials said Officers Nicholas Twerdak, Arkadiusz Gliwa, and Gary Russo responded to the 200 block of Hamilton Street after residents reported seeing two males shooting, what was initially described as a BB gun.

Responding officers located and arrested Muhammad and Hodge who were found in possession of a small caliber handgun.

Shortly after locating the weapon, Rahway Police received a second call for help from a male who reported he had been shot several times in his back. The victim, a 19-year-old Rahway resident, was located a block from the initial incident.

Police said EMS transported the victim to University Hospital in Newark where he underwent surgery for his injuries and is currently in stable condition.

Authorities said Muhammed and Hodge are currently being held at the Union County Jail on multiple charges, including second degree aggravated assault and related weapons possession charges.
