The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office was notified of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle with severe injuries in Orange Friday night.
Officers reported reports of a person struck by a vehicle on Freeway Drive near South Essex Avenue just before 10 p.m.
Police and EMS arrived and found an unconscious person on the roadway suffering severe injuries at that location.
The victim was rushed to the hospital for treatment but was reportedly in 'grave' condition.
Police tracked the driver several miles away after they reportedly left the scene.
The incident is under investigation.
