A physical altercation that occurred between several males ended in gunfire on a street in Orange on Friday.
According to preliminary reports, the incident took place in the 600 block of Beach Street shortly before 3:30 p.m. where a vehicle arrived in the area occupied by at least two males who exited and engaged in a conversation with two other men according to witnesses.
The verbal confrontation escalated into a struggle for, what witnesses said appeared to be, a weapon.
During the fight, one of the men was able to break free and fire a weapon causing two of the men to run from the scene according to witnesses.
Police units arriving at the scene set up a crime scene where they found evidence that a shooting occurred but no victims immediately reported.
It is not clear what the men were fighting for, but residents about a block away said that the area has seen some "open-air" drug sales and other criminal activity on what usually is a quiet neighborhood.
Robbery is a possible motive being looking into by authorities from The Orange Police Department.
