Police across parts of North Jersey were on alert overnight after a series of armed robberies reportedly targeted gas stations and other businesses in multiple communities.
One of the incidents occurred in the 400 block of Central Avenue in Orange shortly before 11 p.m. Sunday, where preliminary information indicated that two armed suspects robbed a business before fleeing the area.
Authorities were also alerted to a red Dodge Durango reportedly connected to the robbery incidents.
At least one handgun was displayed during the crime spree, according to preliminary information.
The vehicle was reportedly last observed heading toward West Orange.
Additional robberies were reported during the night in Essex and neighboring counties, including incidents involving gas stations.
The exact number of businesses targeted has not yet been confirmed, and it remains unclear whether every reported robbery is connected to the same suspects.
Police agencies throughout the region were advised to remain on alert for the vehicle and suspects as the investigation continued overnight.
No serious injuries were immediately reported in the Orange incident.
