NJ Police Officer Stabbed in Head While Intervening in Domestic Violence Incident

A Long Branch police officer was seriously injured after being stabbed in the head while attempting to stop an assault during a domestic violence incident over the weekend.

 

According to the New Jersey State Policemen’s Benevolent Association, Officer Geter Benitez responded to a report of a domestic dispute when he observed a suspect assaulting a woman. 

 

As Officer Benitez rushed in to intervene and protect the victim, a struggle ensued, during which the suspect allegedly stabbed him in the head.

 

The officer was transported for medical treatment. Information regarding his condition has not been officially released.

 

Authorities have not yet released additional details about the suspect or any charges filed in connection with the incident.

 

The investigation remains ongoing.
