Newark Man Wanted for Questioning in East Ward Armed Robbery No Longer Sought by Police

Newark's Public Safety Director, Fritz G. Fragé, indicated that detectives have successfully located Mr. Damon Scott,18, who was being sought for questioning in connection with an armed robbery that took place on September 19, 2023, near Monroe Street and Ferry Street.

Scott reported to a local police station, was questioned by officials, and was observed leaving the station a short time later. 

Mr. Scott had nothing to do with this incident. 

The earlier call for the public's assistance in locating Damon Scott has been resolved. 

The armed robbery incident that occurred in the vicinity of Monroe Street and Ferry Street prompted the Newark Police Department to seek information from the community regarding Scott's whereabouts.

Police officials have not announced charges in the case. 

Director Fragé took this opportunity to stress the ongoing importance of community cooperation in maintaining public safety.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and to promptly report any information related to criminal activity to the Police Division's 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).

Additionally, Director Fragé noted that such tips can potentially lead to rewards, further incentivizing community involvement in crime prevention and resolution.
