Nanny from Union Struck by Car in Hoboken; Children Unharmed

A 54-year-old Union woman was taken to the hospital after a vehicle struck her during an attempt to cross the street pushing a double stroller.

According to police, on Friday at approximately 10:48 a.m., police responded to the area of 5th and Monroe Streets for a report of a pedestrian strike.

According to preliminary report, the 54-year-old nanny from Union was attempting to cross the street while pushing a double stroller when Leroy Sherrill, 28, of Jersey City, struck the victim with a 2017 Honda Accord.

The The victim was transported to the Jersey City Medical Center-Barnabas Health with broken bones and injuries to the leg, face,'and foot area.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and was issued motor vehicle traffic summonses such as failure to stop, careless driving, and failure to stop for pedestrian.

The children were not injured but police they were checked as a precaution.
