Multiple Gunshots Injure Three in Orange

Orange

Authorities in Orange are investigating a shooting that sent three people to the hospital overnight.

A large police presence responded to the 100 block of Taylor Street shortly before midnight after receiving reports of shots fired and several people down at that location.

Arriving units located three victims suffering injuries from apparent gunfire.

Two of the victims were reported to have serious injuries while the third victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.

All of the victims were transported to University Hospital in Newark for treatment.

Taylor Street and several blocks around the residential neighborhood continue to experience instances of gunfire and violent outbreaks with a shooting coming as early as Monday when a male suspect opened fire in the area causing some property damage.

Police rushed to the area and immediately took the suspect in custody.

Residents in the area continue to express concerns saying "they are losing hope and sleep at night as groups of males who argue, then engage in physical violence late into the evenings, several times a week".

"Police are visible in the area for a while then they leave to handle other police business. Unfortunately, police leave the area when the group of guys began to get violent towards each other. There isn't an officer in sight until the violence ends", a Taylor Street resident told RLS Metro Breaking News.

"Sadly, we've become accustom and acquainted with these guys hanging out around here late at night.

We've become familiar with them as they provide a "sense of security" for the neighborhood until they began to argue and shoot at each other" the resident continued.

The motive for the shooting is under investigation.

There have been no arrests immediately reported.
