Milltown Attorney Charged with Witness Tampering

Milltown

Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey announced today that a Milltown defense attorney has been arrested and charged with witness tampering in three separate pending criminal cases.

Officials say Michael Policastro, 52, of Monroe, whose law practice is located in Milltown, has been charged with four counts of witness tampering in the third degree.

Police arrested and charged Policastro on April 5th, following an investigation by Detective Raul Guerra of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.

The investigation determined that between February 2018 and November 2018, Policastro was in contact with witnesses, at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center and at his office in Milltown, who were involved in official criminal proceedings. During these contacts, Policastro encouraged those witnesses to testify or inform falsely, or withhold testimony or information pertaining to three criminal cases that were pending in Middlesex County Superior Court at that time.

“When the integrity of our justice system is at risk, we have a duty to take action.  We will continue to aggressively investigate and prosecute all forms of corruption.” Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey

The investigation is active and is continuing.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Raul Guerra at (732) 745-3961.

As is the case with all criminal defendants, the charges against Policastro are merely accusations and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
