Man Suffers Second Degree Chemical Burns at Linden Plant

Linden Police responded to Solar Compounds, 1201 W. Blancke St., on a report of an industrial accident shortly before 10 a.m 

  Authorities said, a male victim around the age 50, was working with a non-toxic liquid asphalt when a pump malfunctioned and it splattered the man with the hot material. The man was wearing, goggles, gloves, and layers of protective clothing, however, he still suffered second degree burns to his head, face, neck, and hands.   He was transported to Linden Airport where he was airlifted by State Police helicopter to St. Barnabas Medical Center’s Burn Unit, Livingston, NJ.   Linden Police, Fire Department ambulance crew, and Medic 10 personnel were at the scene.   OSHA was notified of the incident.
