Police in Orange are investigating the motive behind a shooting that left a man injured inside a residence in Orange overnight.
According to preliminary reports, police were called to a home in the 50's block of Cleveland Street to investigate reports of shots fired that occurred just before 10:30 p.m.
Units arriving at the scene found an unidentified male suffering gunshot wounds to the face and upper torso inside a basement of the home according to on-scene reports.
EMS rushed the victim to University Hospital in Newark where the extent of his injuries could not be confirmed as of 4:30 a.m.
Authorities believe that the victim was in a verbal dispute with a male suspect shortly before gunfire rang out.
The shooter remains at-large.
