EMS transported a male victim to University Hospital in Newark after gunfire rang out in the area of Scotland Road and Tremont Ave. at around 2:30 p.m.
Witnesses said that the victim (believed to be young boy) was shot at as many as five times from suspects following him in a vehicle about a block away from the Family Dollar store. The family confirmed the victim as a 21-year-old male shot twice and seriously injured.
Police closed off the area searching for evidence and a burgundy vehicle last seen fleeing the scene.
The victim's condition has not been released at this time.
