Linden Promote its First African-American Police Chief

Linden Police Officers, dignitaries, colleagues, families, and friends convened this morning at Linden City Hall to witness the promotion of Linden’s first African-American officer to the position of Police Chief.

Jonathan R. Parham, an 18 year veteran of the department, was sworn in as the new chief in front of a large crowd of well-wishers.

Also promoted was Captain Michael F. Saake, Lieutenant William Mack, and Sergeant Monika Oliveira.

Officer Joseph K. Kaulfers, who is assigned to the FBI Joint-Terrorism Task Force in Newark, was elevated to the position of Detective.

Speaking at the ceremony was New Jersey State Senator and Linden Mayor, both of whom wished all of the officers continued success in their careers.
