The Union County Prosecutor's Office is assisting in an investigation into a shooting that caused severe injuries in Roselle Thursday night.
According to a preliminary investigation, Roselle police units responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the vicinity of 300 3rd Avenue at approximately 9:17 p.m.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a male victim suffering gunshot wounds at that location.
Police say the victim was rushed to the hospital suffering severe injuries.
Officers at the crime scene collected shell casings and other evidence to support a motive for the shooting.
There were no arrests reported.
