Injuries Reported in Orange Shooting

Orange

Orange Police are investigating an overnight shooting that injured a man in proximity to a fire station.

Reports of shots fired sent police to an apartment building in the 400 block of Central Avenue where officers arrived to find two people injured at that location.

One person suffered a gunshot wound to the leg while the other victim's injury was not a gunshot wound according to authorities.

A preliminary investigation indicated that the shooting occurred on the outside at the victim reportedly made his way inside the apartment.

EMS transported the victim to University Hospital in stable condition.

Residents said they heard what they first believed were fire crackers then police sirens.

"They just started hanging in front of that building again, so it was expected and I'm not surprised but saddened by it," a nearby resident said. "Every time the young men gather in front of that building, non-sense happens" the resident continued.

Police searched the front of the building for shell casings and other evidence.

The motive for the shooting is under investigation by the Orange Police Department.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
