“I Hope to be Inspiration to More Young Women Who Look Like Me” Monique Sterling

Monique Sterling, 22, of Franklin Lakes is a second-year medical student at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School.

Monique says, she decided to pursue a career in medicine because the science behind the study of medicine fascinated her.

Having the opportunity to interact firsthand with people while helping with their illnesses makes me very grateful. I hope to be an inspiration to more young women who look like me so that we can continue to diversify the field of medicine, and bridge the gap between providers and patients here in Newark, as well as worldwide".
