Fire officials in Linden are on the scene of a fire that ignited inside the city's municipal garage this afternoon.
According to preliminary reports, fire broke out at 1902 Lower Road at approximately 4:05 p.m. sending firefighters to the scene where they encountered heavy smoke and flames coming from inside the municipal garage.
Roselle and Garwood provided station coverage as Linden and Elizabeth firefighters began to extinguish the blaze.
Crews were able to knock most of the flames down inside the large single story garage in about an hour with no injuries reported.
A hazmat crew was requested to the scene but the official cause of the fire remains under investigation.
