Deadly Hit-and-Run in Nutley Claims One Life, Injures Another

Authorities in Essex County are investigating a hit-and-run collision in Nutley that has resulted in the death of a young pedestrian and left another with serious injuries.

AdActing Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, alongside Nutley Police Chief Thomas Strumolo, disclosed that the Essex County Prosecutor's Crime Scene Investigations Bureau is currently investigating the incident that occurred on Wednesday, February 14.

The collision took place shortly before 7 p.m. on the 100 block of Milton Avenue, close to the Garden State Parkway overpass. 22-year-old Mr. Wiston Perlaza of Paterson was rushed to Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 7:12 p.m.

A second victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was also transported to a local hospital with non-fatal injuries.

Authorities are now seeking the public's assistance in gathering information that could lead to the identification and apprehension of the individual or individuals responsible for this devastating event.AdThe investigation remains active and ongoing, with officials urging anyone with information to come forward and contact the Essex County Prosecutor's Office tips line.
