Critical Injuries Reported for Pedestrian Struck by Vehicle in Linden

Police in Linden requested an accident investigation unit to the scene of a pedestrian strike that left a person critically injured in Linden early Sunday morning.

According to preliminary reports, emergency responder rushed to the intersection of East St. Georges and Wood avenues after they received reports of an injured person at approximately 2 a.m.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene and found a severely injured, unconscious and unresponsive person laying on the ground at that location.

The victim was provided with life-saving techniques before EMS rushed the unidentified person to University Hospital for further treatment.

Police are investigating the cause of the incident. There is no official word if the driver stayed at the scene.

**LINDEN POLICE UPDATE:** "Just before 2 am this morning a 35-year-old woman from Fanwood was struck while crossing North Wood Avenue in the area of St. George Avenue. The woman was transported to Newark University Hospital with serious injuries and remains in critical condition. Anyone with information about the crash is urged to call Inv.
