Bullets Strike Building in Newark Central Ward Shots Fired Incident

Police collected multiple shell casings at the scene of a shots-fired incident that rang out in Newark's Central Ward Sunday evening. 

According to a preliminary investigation, a ShotSpotter device activated in the area of 82 17th Avenue just before 5:50 p.m. sending officers to the scene to investigate. 

Upon arrival, police found several shell casings on the ground and bullets struck a home at that location. 

No on inside suffered injuries but the gunman fired at least four times at unknown targets before fleeing the scene. 

The shooting is in close proximately to a deadly shooting of a male found gunned down inside the Nat Turner Park  earlier Sunday according to the Essex County Prosecutor's Office. 

Police have not reported arrests in either of the shooting incidents.
