There is an active investigation underway into a shooting that has the victim fighting for their life in a Linden neighborhood at this time.
According to a preliminary investigation, police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the 1200 block of Essex Avenue around 12:45 p.m.
Police arrived at the scene and found a male victim bleeding heavily from his chest after a gunman fired shots at him, according to the investigation.
EMS provided CPR at the unconscious and unresponsive victim at the scene. The extent of his injuries have been reported as life-threatening.
The suspect fled the scene and remain at-large. Please avoid the area for the investigation.
