EMS are transporting a teen boy to the hospital after gunshots rang out in the area, striking the boy.
According to preliminary reports from the scene, police responded to reports of shots fire in the 20's block of North Day Street where cops arrived to the scene where they located the victim, who is around the age of 17-years-old, shot in the foot at that location.
The victim was transported to University Hospital suffering non-life threatening injuries.
A vehicle, occupied by several suspects, sped away from the scene and onto Center Street reports said. Police believe that the car is a black Hyundai Genesis.
There is a crime scene established in the area at this time.
UPDATE 4:16 p.m Police reportedly have suspects detained at this time.
UPDATE 4:49 p.m. Suspects detained in the area of Glenwood Avenue and Washington Street in East Orange. There is heavy police activity and street closures at the intersection of Harrison & William Streets in East Orange.
