BREAKING BELLEVILLE-NEWARK NJ: High Speed Pursuit, Crash Leaves Belleville Officer Injured; One Arrested

A high-speed police pursuit of A stolen vehicle had Belleville police chase the car into Newark causing a crash and injuring an officer this morning.

According to preliminary reports, Belleville Police officers began to follow the vehicle at around 8:30 AM after they observed the car driving recklessly in their city.

The driver of the vehicle ignored officers' lights and sirens then sped away; ultimately entering Newark.

Police from Montclair and The Essex County Sheriff's Office joined the pursuit that came to a crashing halt in the 400 block of Lake Street when the driver of the stolen vehicle crashed into the brick steps of a house.

A brief pursuit had cops capture at least one suspect near Branch Brook Park.

EMS transported a Belleville Police officer to an area hospital suffering non-life threatening injuries.

Police are continuing to investigate.
