Bomb Squad Responds to Reports of Suspicious Items Found Inside Garage in Union

The Union County Bomb Squad was called to a home on Huntington Road in Union on reports of a "suspicious device," according to police.

The bomb squad, along with Union Police, responded to the call just before 7 p.m. on June 25.

Police said residents on the block were asked to remain in their homes while the authorities investigated the "device."

According to police, after investigating, it was determined that the items were old flares that someone found when cleaning out the home of a relative.

The items were removed from the home and were safely disposed of, Union Police said.

The bomb squad determined that there was no threat and residents on the block were permitted to return to regular activity.
